Cold Brew Instructions:

  1. Start with really, really ridiculously good coffee.
  2. Grind coarse. Think French Press grind or just note 'Coarse' when purchasing online.
  3. Add a 1:4 coffee to filtered water ratio. (1/4 cup coffee: 1 cup water)
  4. Stir grounds and water together. Make sure all the coffee grounds are entirely saturated.
  5. Cover container and place in fridge for 12-18 hours.
  6. Filter grounds from coffee with coffee filter. Drain coffee into new container.

Done. Now you have coffee cold brew concentrate. You can drink this straight, add water, or cut with your milk. We would suggest adding 1-part water to 1-part cold brew coffee and serve over ice with a little bit of cream. It’s smooth and easy drinking. Make it overnight and you’ll be set for all your summer adventures.

Keep refrigerated. Enjoy within 7 days.

We are super excited that the fresh crop from Francisco Cardona Martin and his farm, La Colmenita, has arrived at our roastery in Cincinnati. With syrupy sweet notes of almond and green apple, this coffee never disappoints. La Colmenita is a high-altitude farm, sitting 1850-2000 meters above sea level in Huehuetenango in NW Guatemala. This is our first year purchasing lots from Francisco at La Colmenita.

Driving the narrow mountain road up an impossibly steep slope to Finca La Colmenita, or "The Beehive", the views are striking. The valley stretches out below, and we have visited many farms on this mountainside, guided by our friends from Onyx Coffee that own Finca Vista Hermosa, which sits just below La Colmenita.

When Francisco Cardona Martin bought La Colmenita in 2002, he had a vision: To produce the best quality coffees possible, by planting varieties known for excellence in separation, and investing heavily in equipment and farming techniques. Francisco is incredibly resourceful, drying his coffee on a patio he built on top of his house and investing nearly all profits from coffee sold back into the farm. He often attends cuppings with the Onyx Coffee QC team to develop his skills and to learn where he can improve.

Like bees and ‘The Beehive’ of which their farm is named, the producers of La Colmenita’s artful process, hard work, dedication to quality, and teamwork created a beautiful coffee that gets to be enjoyed by us all.

Delight your senses

The flavors here aren’t especially dominant and yet you want more and more as it cools slightly and the pleasant sweetness is realized.

I got the Guatemalan coffee and it has been my favorite! I don’t always drink coffee, but since I got it, I’ve had a cup almost every day! It’s just amazing. The care and hard work this team puts into their coffee shows. I love supporting and getting the coffee from Yield!
